Support for Women

Next Chapter began life as Colchester & Tendring Women’s Refuge in 1976. Since then, our work has branched out to cover all regions of Essex, and our Staff team has grown to over 70 – this growth means we are now able to offer our services to Male clients across Essex.

You can find the support options we have available for Women by visiting our parent site.

Meet Us

One of our practitioners will take your details and ask you some questions about the domestic abuse you are suffering or have suffered in the past.  We will assess the level of risk you are at so that we can offer the appropriate support.  We can then give you help and advice, including any help with safety planning.  We will offer you an appointment if needed for emotional and further practical support which can be regular and ongoing depending on your circumstances.

We can meet with you at an agreed location in the community near to your home, often coffee shops or libraries, or local drop in centres.

Keeping Yourself Safe

Online services and social media should be open and safe for everyone to use. We know that perpetrators of domestic abuse often use online tools to abuse their victims.

Below is information about how to keep yourself safe online and cover your tracks.
