Next Chapter began life as Colchester & Tendring Women’s Refuge in 1976. Since then, our work has branched out to cover all regions of Essex, and our Staff team has grown to over 70 – this growth means we are now able to offer our services to Male clients across Essex.

We provide a  range of services  including emotional support for children and young people, parenting support, family work, group work and 1:1’s.

How we Support Children & Young People

Our specialist team support young people to explore their feelings and help them understand what they have been through, know they are not to blame, help them to stay safe and let them know where they can turn if they need more help.

The CYP team manage this in a number of ways:

Working directly with the children or young person on their emotional regulation and well-being in a safe space.
Deliver workshops to CYP around Healthy Relationships.
Empower CYP to find their voice and be listened to.
Work with parents - Parental Attachment sessions and Parenting programmes as well as practical and emotional support.
Work with professionals - deliver workshops on the impact of Domestic Abuse.
Consult on Trauma and Behaviour strategies.
