Support for Women

Next Chapter began life as Colchester & Tendring Women’s Refuge in 1976. Since then, our work has branched out to cover all regions of Essex, and our Staff team has grown to over 70 – this growth means we are now able to offer our services to Male clients across Essex.

You can find the support options we have available for Women by visiting our parent site.

Support Us

man

At Next Chapter, our work wouldn't be possible without the generosity and commitment of people like you.

Donate

Your financial contributions are crucial to sustaining our services. Donations allow us to provide refuge and other essential support to survivors of domestic abuse. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a significant difference. Thank you.

Your support enables us to continue our mission of providing life-changing assistance to those affected by domestic abuse. Whether through financial donations, contributing items, or volunteering your time, every effort you make helps us to create a safer and more supportive environment for those in need.

Supporting families this Christmas

Christmas should be a wonderful time spent with friends and loved ones, but we know that isn’t possible for everyone for a variety of reasons. The emotional and finance pressures are a real struggle at Christmas, add to this the current cost of living crisis and you can see that there will be many families struggling with impossible choices over the festive period.

We want to make sure this isn’t the case for the families we work with and that is where your support comes in.

We could not deliver our Christmas appeal without supporters just like you. We passionately believe every family deserves a safe and magical Christmas.

Give Items

If you are thinking about making a donation to Next Chapter, there is just a few things to bear in mind...

  • Please note that we cannot give out items such as razors, alcohol or candles for safety reasons
  • In refuge, we do not have bath facilities (showers only) so please do not donate bubble bath, bath bombs or soap
  • We also are currently not accepting second-hand items (Please don't take this as offence, we know there are lots of second-hand items that still have plenty of room to be loved again and we always try our best to recommend where to donate to!)

Volunteer

Volunteering your time is another powerful way to support our cause. From providing direct support to survivors through our DART Volunteer Mentor programme, assisting with events, to offering your skills as a Trustee, your involvement can make a lasting impact.

Find out more about volunteering opportunities on our parent website (opens in a new window).
